Eddie Howe - Mr AFC BOURNEMOUTH

Eddie Howe - Mr AFC BOURNEMOUTH

SUNDAY 3rd AUGUST 2020

I’M HEARTBROKEN

This year has been like no other, but I am not talking about the Covid-19, social distancing or any of the ramifications of the fatal pandemic. They are there to deal with. What I am talking about is much worse for many of us than all that.

Eddie Howe is leaving as Bournemouth manager.

Apparently by mutual consent between club and Eddie. Whatever the details and reasons, this is, for us Bournemouth fans, as bad as it can get. I can only speak from the perspective of an emotional late 50s lifelong fan who has watched and supported the club through everything since 1970, and believe me, we have suffered some lows in that time - this eclipses everything.

Eddie … the gentleman, the presiding influence and magician over the club’s rise from 91st to 9th in the world’s greatest league. Eddie the player, the local boy, the lad who would and did play and manage the club for nothing, such is his love for AFC Bournemouth. Take note future Bournemouth players - this matters! It matters to us, the fans, and it should matter to you. Eddie was, and always will be, a Bournemouth fan first, who lived the dream of taking his beloved club to the holy land. Nobody can take that away from him, nor us.

Tributes everywhere at the moment: past players, managers, fans and friends - we are all in a state of shock. The thing is this, I believe Eddie has stepped aside because he probably feels he is doing the best for AFC Bournemouth. That is the measure of the guy. He is the most considered manager I have ever seen. Win or lose his reaction is always calm and collected. I am sure Eddie will praise his players for their efforts and amazing performances to get AFC Bournemouth to where they did. But we, the Bournemouth fans, know that he wrote the overture and then put the orchestra together to keep performing it at whatever level they found themselves at.

We will all move on of course; life demands that. AFC Bournemouth will survive. Eddie will manage again and will hopefully go on to greater things; this will be a sliver lining to what must feel like a very dark cloud in his life right now. I, we, as AFC Bournemouth fans will feel down, but we know Eddie will be as broken hearted as we are. Good luck and our heartfelt best wishes go out to you and your family, Eddie.

Thanks for the memories

AT LAST

Well I have only gone and done it haven’t I …. it has only taken me 50 years! Here I am finally going live with my own website all about my Subbuteo stuff, how cool is that? After years and years and years of collecting and enjoying everything to do with Subbuteo Stuff we could only call it by one name … ‘Subbuteo Stuff’. Hope you like it. I aim to be updating pages regularly for fresh content. They’ll be news and views and all things to look at including some teams for sale, accessories and hopefully a regular blog post to keep you amused too. I am nothing if not amusing so look out for some Subbuteo fun in the coming months.
